History of Chitranjan Railway Factory:
The production for Chitranjan Railway factory activity started on 26th January, 1950 on the day when India became Republic. Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) was named on the notable leader and great freedom fighter, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. The first production work started at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works was Steam Locomotive. Chittaranjan Locomotive Works turned out a total number of 2351 Steam Locomotives In the period 1950-1972.
The WAP-5 loco engine, running at a speed of 200 kmph, built by the Chittaranjan railway factory will be used in trains with fewer bogies. This engine will reduce power consumption, as well as save time due to high-speed trains However, the engine is yet to be tested. After the WAP-7 engine running at a speed of 180 kmph, now the WAP-5 engine running at a speed of 200 kmph will be used in trains with less coaches like Shatabdi, Garib Rath. The problem for the railway is that the speed of this engine is not worth the track yet. Track upgrade will be completed in one year. After this the engine will run at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
Chittaranjan Rail Engine Factory Created World Record
Technical specialists believe in better quality control and engineering. As per the team, the below mentioned technologies are special in engines made from Chittaranjan locomotive factory.
- Active Speed Sensor:
This controls the speed. It will have two parts. With this, the pilot and control room will get accurate information about the speed of the train. This will show how much speed the train has to maintain between the two sections. - Gear drive assembly:
The engine has six axles. They have 12 wheels attached to them. Each axle and wheel has one motor each. This is called the gear drive assembly. The assembly is sourced from Germany which will increase the speed of the train. - Remote Diagonist
This will make the pilot aware of engine disturbances. There is no need to get off the car for this. This information will be found on the advanced display facing the driver. The control room will also get information about the mess.
Congratulating the factory workers for achieving this feat, Railway minister Piyush Goyal said that the hard work and dedication of Railways family have made this feat possible.
