Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on 30th October, 2026 that the Bengaluru (Yashwantpur)-Goa (Madgaon) Vande Bharat (VB) 26655/656 will start next month. The Vande Bharat speed is getting closer attention because of its travel time.
Among other Vande Bharat trains on different routes, Bengaluru-Goa will offer the longest travel time in its segment, leaving the Pune-Ajni (Nagpur) VB behind after the announcement of Yashwantpur-Madgaon VB services.
A new addition is set to operate on the Yashwantpur-Madgaon route, increasing trains between stations and improving travel options for passengers. Currently, few services are operating between these stations.
Yashwantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat Speed
Talking about the fastest train in India, Vande Bharat is considered at the top. However, the latest announcement is drawing attention to Bengaluru-Goa Vande Bharat speed. It will cover about 670 km in over 13 hours and will become the slowest Vande Bharat among all.
The Bengaluru to Goa route will witness a new service in the next few weeks, improving travel options for passengers with premium services and higher comfort. India’s fastest train, Vande Bharat, is ready to be operational as the Yashwantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat by the end of November.
Considering steep gradients, sharp turns, and passenger safety, it will be the slowest among Vande Bharat train segments. The train will operate with the average speed of 53 to 54 Km/h on this route.
Yashwantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat Has Higher Travel Time?
Vande Bharat Express trains are popular for their higher speed, reducing travel time. However, the train schedule shows that the Bengaluru to Goa Vande Bharat train route will operate as the slowest service in its segment.
- Western Ghats Route: The Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road ghat stretch allows trains to operate at a maximum of 30 km/h. Its steep gradient and sharp curves restrict train speed.
- Track Infrastructure: Tracks between Thokur and Mangaluru Junction and near Yashwantpur allow single-line operations. It increases long waiting times and resulting in longer travel hours.
- High Congestion: The schedule carries heavy rail traffic congestion on regional lines, reducing speed and increasing average travel hours.
These are some considerable reasons that restrict Vande Bharat speed to operate on higher potential.
Vande Bharat Speed from Fastest to Lowest
Currently, about 82 pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains are operational in India, improving transportation by offering better comfort. Most of the services are Chair Car (CC), but two sleeper services have been introduced recently.
Vande Bharat is known for its fastest speed and New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat 22435/22436 comes out on top. With average speed at about 95 km/h the train covers about 770 kms in 8 hours.
Currently, Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express is considered the slowest service because of high track congestion and local station density. However, the upcoming Yashwantpur- Madgaon Vande Bharat Express will take over the tag and will become the slowest VB express.
