Indian Railways: Platform Ticket Rules one should know

Platform ticket is issued by the Indian Railways only to access Railway station for two hours from its time of issue. Apart from restricting roamers, it helps to remove huge crowdfrom the platform.The cost of platform ticket is INR 10 to INR 20. It is a source of revenue for the Railways that is used for maintenance of platforms. One platform ticket is valid for one person. If you are moving to receive or seeing off your loved one at railway station, then make sure you have a platform ticket. Entering without a platform ticket is a delinquency. If anyone is caught without platform ticket; you will be charged minimum 250 INR as penalty charge or double the fare of the last train that arrived at / departed from that platform by the ticket checker, the fare will be worked out on the basis of the last ticket checking station on the train’s route. There is no cancellation or refund available for platform ticket. Now platform ticket can be also booked online via UTS application.
