Rajpath: Where the Parade takes place
In 1911 when the British Government decided to move the capital of India from Calcutta (Kolkata) to Delhi, they approached Sir Edwin Lutyens. He designed a boulevard (A long and wide road) to have a panoramic sight of the city from a vice-regal palace, thus the existence of Rajpath appeared on the screen. At that time the path was known as King’s way as this road was surrounded by eminent buildings. Later after independence, the road name changed into “Rajpath”.
What to see on 26th January Republic Day ceremony at Rajpath:
The Republic Day is a festival of sovereignty, integrity and pride. Once you come to the Rajpath on Republic Day the feeling of patriotism and nationality infuses in your blood. Sound of boots of the armed soldiers’ and well-practiced bands vibrates directly in your heart and fill it up with pride and thrill.
Flag-Hoisting: The national Festival of Republic day ceremony starts by hoisting our tricolor flag and followed by speech and parade. The President of the country hoists the flag and this year too, Hon’ble President of India Ram Nath Kovind would be hoisting our national flag.
March past: Almost 25 armed forces contingents roaring on the Rajpath dressed in their respective uniforms would fill your heart with spirit and joy. The call of the duty and their passion to sacrifice their life would definitely ask you to salute them once.
The sound you miss on the television: The real voice!!! What else could match to the level of experience of such a prideful moment than being present physically? The sound of boots when the armed forces walk by, cheering up for your country, the voice of excitement and joy, thrilling and heart beating helicopters showering the flowers is all about to make you feel proud, rejoice and to cherish the moment.
Stunts by Saviors of our Country: You will hold your breath for a moment when the BSF adventures show their command on the earth and gravity forces and go beyond your imagination stunting on their motorbikes. This is really something worth watching there at national fest. From last year, BSF women Dare-Devils were also part of this fascinating display of bike stunts.
Kids Bravery Award: An attraction for the children and grownups!! Every year some of the brave children are chosen to receive an award from the president on showcasing the extraordinary brave for public welfare or during the time of disaster. This is not only inspiring for the children watching at them but also encouraging them for doing well.
The camel show: Jaisalmer camel-mounted BSF contingent is not only enjoyable enough to see but holds a pride to say “single camel-mounted band” which has been registered in Guinness book of world’s record. Almost 100 camels are prepared for the camel show every year. Don’t miss this fascinating sight this year.
Tableaus (Jhanki): Very oblivious scheduled Tableaus which defines “unity in diversity”. You will be witnessing the different Jhankis of different states in this segment. Showcasing the scene of our strong culture, security, weapons, and other delights is a visual treat to your eyes. Take your children and let them learn about the diversity of our country.
Air-Show: Air-show displays all the wings of our Indian forces working day and night to ensure the security and peace of our country. This will again fill you up with pride. But what asks you to hold your heart is the air show displayed by our mighty Indian air force. Join this festival and get ready to fill your weekend with pride, honor, and spirit.
