New Delhi Railway Station started smart access parking control system

New Delhi junction has already set its name in the Guinness book of world record for its route relay interlocking system and the steps to modernize the station with premium facilities is still on. This time it was the parking system which needed a remolding in its operational structure to set the congestion problem free. Now the parking and vehicle congestion problem at New Delhi Railway station will be resolved. If passengers need to take their vehicle to New Delhi railway station and stay there for more than eight minutes, they will have to pay penalty for the extra time stay. The new smart access parking system has been started towards Ajmeri Gate of the New Delhi railway station. Vehicles coming to the New Delhi Railway station premise will be allowed to stop for only eight minutes. Fees and penalties will have to be paid for staying for longer than this.

In the new parking arrangement system, commercial vehicles will be charged more than private vehicles. Increasing traffic jam, being a serious concern at New Delhi Railway Station was the major reason behind implementing the smart parking access. Taxi and auto parking will be available in this 3-lane parking. CCTV cameras have also been installed at the “IN and OUT” gates of the parking lot. Data of vehicles coming in parking will be saved for a month. This new system will reduce the hassle especially for private vehicles thronging at outside the station premises.

After 30 minutes driver has to pay a fee of two hundred rupees:
Private vehicles coming in the new parking system will have only eight minutes to unload their passengers. If the time limit exceeds more than eight minutes then a penalty of Rupees 50 will be charged. This fine will be valid for up to 15 minutes. After this, if the vehicle stops for more than 15 minutes and 30 minutes, then the driver will have to pay a penalty of two hundred rupees. According to Railways officials, No longer will the vehicle stop at station premise and if any vehicle found violating the rule, then it will be lifted by the crane. Moreover, along with the parking fee, a fine of one thousand rupees will also be charged from the driver.

Ola, Uber have to pay an entry charge of Rupees 30:
Ola, Uber and other commercial vehicles will have to pay a charge of Rupees 30 for entering the New Delhi station premises. Penalties will be charged from them as per the schedule fixed by Indian Railways. The trial has been going on for a long time to implement this but due to lack of system arrangements, Railways officials were unable in start it. According to sources, some professional drivers were against and disappointed with this arrangement. He said that sometimes unloading of luggage takes longer than 8 minutes and they have to pay excess fine to the authority.

Vehicles Congestion is causing problems to passengers:
Railway officials said that the New Delhi railway station is very heavy populated railway station and passengers were in trouble due to congestion of vehicles at the New Delhi railway station. Now with the new smart parking system, lanes have been built to avoid this problem. Now any driver can’t park their vehicles unnecessarily in fear of penalties. CCTV cameras have also been installed at the entrance and exit doors of the station premise. Drivers can park their vehicle in the parking lot at the New Delhi railway station to avoid fine.
