Indian Railways Refunds 1,885 Crores to Passengers against Ticket Cancellation

IRCTC NEWS : Indian Railways has refunded Rs 1,885 crores to passengers for the cancellation of trains due to the nationwide lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Indian Railways had cancelled the operations of the train amid countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. On cancellation of trains at a large level, the Railways faced a challenge in refunding the ticket money of passengers. However, the Railways successfully refunded the money to the railway passengers.

Railways Refunded Tickets Amount from March 21st to May 31st

Railways have refunded the money of cancelled tickets from 21 March 2020 to 31 May 2020 to the passengers. These refunds have been made for tickets booked online. Passengers who had booked tickets from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website or app have been refunded the cancelled ticket money.

Online Cancelled Ticket Money Has Been Refunded

Railways said, “The entire money of the tickets booked online has been refunded to the passengers. This money has been transferred to the accounts of the passengers from whom tickets were booked. Due to the steps taken by the railways, the passengers got their refund on time and they did not face the trouble of collecting the ticket money at the PRS counter.”

How to Get Refunds from Reservation Counter

Passengers who booked their tickets from the PRS counters can take refunds of their tickets through the PRS counters of Indian Railways itself. People can take refunds by showing tickets by visiting any reservation counter in the country. You will get a refund in the form of cash. Those who will not be able to get the refund within the stipulated period for some reason, they will get it within 180 days.

You can learn about the preferred dates from which you can get your refund easily by visiting Railways PRS counters.

• People who book tickets to travel between 15 and 30 April will be able to take their refunds from 7 June.

• The number of tickets booked to travel from 1 to 15 May will be returned from 14 June.

• To book tickets from 16 to 30 May, those who book tickets will be able to take their amount from 21 June.

• People who travel from 1 to 30 June will be able to get money from 28 June.
