Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh shared a letter from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clarifying the approval for the 3rd Vande Bharat train via Udhampur. Native citizens welcomed this decision. It will make train travel more convenient on this busy route.
Third Vande Bharat Train to Srinagar Gets Ministry Clearance
Another Vande Bharat gifted to passengers planning the journey between Jammu and Srinagar. Previously, two trains were introduced on this route, improving connectivity and travel time. Check the train schedule to find detailed information about the existing two Vande Bharat services.
Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw provided clearance for the new Vande Bharat Express, and native citizens praised this decision. The services include Udhampur as a stoppage, making it popular among the Jammu region and surrounding areas.
Why was the Third Jammu to Srinagar Vande Bharat Added?
Strong passenger demand on the Jammu-Srinagar train route and full occupancy became the main reasons behind the introduction of the third Vande Bharat service.
Previously in April 2026, Indian Railways had taken major steps to increase seat availability by increasing coaches from 8 to 20.
The existing Vande Bharat services are running with full occupancy after their introduction. Addition of a Jammu to Srinagar train service will provide another travel option to passengers.
Jammu Tawi to Srinagar Distance
Information on new services for the Jammu Tawi to Srinagar route is incomplete without discussing the distance between them.
Jammu Srinagar distance by train is about 269 km through the existing services. It offers Vande Bharat Express to cover the route in about 4 hours 50 minutes.
Jammu to Srinagar distance by road is about 243 Km which takes about 6 to 8 hours by car. However, uneven roads and risk of landslides make it vulnerable.
Jammu-Srinagar Train Timings and Fare
Since the new Jammu to Srinagar train service has received approval, Indian Railways has not yet announced the final commercial timetable.
Passengers need to wait for the official announcement for the train schedule from Jammu to Srinagar by train.
Seeking strong demand, this major step will strengthen direct rail connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar.
However, Indian Railways is working to release the schedule in upcoming days and help in ticket booking for reserved train journeys.
Moreover, it will also disclose the fare for the services which is expected to be between Rs. 800 to Rs. 1600.
