“Reform”, “Perform” and “Transform”- The Indian Railway is following the formula of transforming the Railways to provide the best journey experience to the passengers by introducing new rules and modifying the existing facilities. Commonly known as the “transport lifeline of the nation”, Indian Railways will go through these five transformations which will ease the journey of passengers and help them to reach their destination station with comfort, safety and smile.
Provision of Wi-Fi at 6000+ Railway Stations: Central Government is planning to install wi-fi at 6,000 railway stations across India. The basic idea to install wi-fi is that the passengers and other locals of the area can make the best use of the internet to gain knowledge regarding their profession such as farming, teaching etc. and know the updates in the respective field. The wi-fi connections will also be used by the passengers to check train running status and other railway details.
Introduction of Bio-Vacuum Toilets in the Coaches: Bio-vacuum toilets will soon be introduced in coaches, which is an eco-friendly decomposition mechanized toilet system. This is also called EFTS ‘Environment Friendly Toilet System’ as this tech-driven bathroom consumes minimal water.
New menu, New prices: IRCTC will soon launch a new menu with revised prices of the food served in train. Earlier, the food sold by the vendors was highly priced, sometimes to 100%, to earn extra money. After the introduction of the new menu, these food vendors can’t charge above the price mentioned in the menu. Railways will also monitor the hygiene of pantry car, cooking practices through CCTV’s and promise safe food for consumption during the journey.
Introduction of Food Vending Machine: Indian Railway has introduced first tablet-operated automatic food vending machine in UDAY Express running from Coimbatore to Bengaluru. It will serve a variety of snacks and beverages like biscuits, chips, packaged foods, tetra packed juices, cold drinks, tea and coffee. You can easily place an order using the tablet linked to it and pay via cash. The machine will be installed soon in other trains of longer journey.
Deen Dayalu Coaches: Passengers travelling in the general class of mail and express train will soon be receiving “Deen Dayalu” coach with facilities like mobile charging points, portable drinking water, bio-toilets and attractive interiors/exteriors. A total of 700 coaches will be added to many express trains by the year-end.
Currently, Indian Railways carry 23 million passengers every day and it’s on the race to enrich the journey of the passengers by providing them with the best travelling experience. Passengers on trains in India will no longer be deprived of the basic facilities and will enjoy these additional benefits of Indian Railways very soon at every station.
