Coronavirus which originated in mainland China has made its entry in India. Since this virus was first detected, more than 75000 cases of infection have been confirmed as of today. The novel coronavirus or officially known as COVID-19 has now spread to many countries including Japan, South Korea, Iran, Kuwait, the Middle East, and Italy. It has been declared a pandemic and world health emergency by WHO and UNICEF.

It’s Holi time in India and many people are going back to their home in Holi special trains to celebrate the colorful festival of Holi. Traveling in a train poses a great risk of getting infectious with the novel coronavirus. Follow suggested methods and adopt precautionary measures by WHO to protect yourself from coronavirus while travelling. Train travelers can help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses by practicing good hand hygiene, avoiding contact with people who are ill, and taking other steps to help manage the risk of infection.

Coronavirus Symptoms
Your search for coronavirus meaning ends here. You will get to know about coronavirus meaning, coronavirus symptoms, coronavirus causes and precautions that you must take to be on a safe zone. Coronaviruses are zoonotic which means that they are spread between animals and humans. Common coronavirus symptoms in humans include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. In more severe cases, pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death may result from infection. Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause diseases ranging from common colds to more serious diseases such as Respiratory Syndrome of the Middle East (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

The main coronavirus cause so far suggested by scientists is animal meat. Many animals like bats are held responsible for the sudden outbreak of coronavirus. Other coronavirus cause detected by scientists from all over the world is raw meat or uncooked meat like chicken and mutton. You can protect yourself from coronavirus disease if you know about all coronavirus symptoms in humans.

Precautions and Safety Measures for Coronavirus

  3. Never buy food from unauthorized food vendors. Always order food online on trains to get fresh and hygienic food at your seat directly from restaurants. This will not only make your tummy happy but also keep you away from coronavirus infection. Learn to identify unauthorized food suppliers in trains which can prove to be a lifesaver when you travel in a train full of crowds.

  4. Always wash your hands properly with soap before and after you eat food. You can also use hand sanitizers in place of soap and water but remember that that is only for backup and not as effective as complete handwashing. To kill germs, it is recommended that you wash your hands under lukewarm (or hot) water for at least 20-30 seconds.

  5. Avoid drinking water at railway stations. Always buy packaged drinking water from authorized sources only.

  6. Prefer vegetarian food while you are travelling by train. It is suspected that coronavirus spreads through uncooked or partially cooked meat like chicken, mutton, and sea foods. Prevention is better than cure and it fits perfectly for any train traveler.

  7. Since human coronavirus infection is transmitted primarily through the poultry industry, ensure that any food you eat while you travel is thoroughly cooked, not raw and undergoes quality checks. Avoid eating any food that has been exposed for a long time. Be cautious of coming into contact with live animals and poultry.

  8. Avoid any contact with sick people and maintain distance from people who are ill. Don’t eat food offered by people especially if they are coughing, sneezing, or ill. Coronavirus infection is mainly spread through food and direct contact with already infectious people.

  9. Do not forget to get vaccinated if you are planning to travel in a train. Although there is no proven cure or coronavirus vaccine developed for coronavirus infection, you can minimise the risks of getting infected by having the vaccination for common cold and flu.
