  3. Never buy food from unauthorized food vendors. Always order food online on trains to get fresh and hygienic food at your seat directly from restaurants. This will not only make your tummy happy but also keep you away from coronavirus infection. Learn to identify unauthorized food suppliers in trains which can prove to be a lifesaver when you travel in a train full of crowds.

  4. Always wash your hands properly with soap before and after you eat food. You can also use hand sanitizers in place of soap and water but remember that that is only for backup and not as effective as complete handwashing. To kill germs, it is recommended that you wash your hands under lukewarm (or hot) water for at least 20-30 seconds.

  5. Avoid drinking water at railway stations. Always buy packaged drinking water from authorized sources only.

  6. Prefer vegetarian food while you are travelling by train. It is suspected that coronavirus spreads through uncooked or partially cooked meat like chicken, mutton, and sea foods. Prevention is better than cure and it fits perfectly for any train traveler.

  7. Since human coronavirus infection is transmitted primarily through the poultry industry, ensure that any food you eat while you travel is thoroughly cooked, not raw and undergoes quality checks. Avoid eating any food that has been exposed for a long time. Be cautious of coming into contact with live animals and poultry.

  8. Avoid any contact with sick people and maintain distance from people who are ill. Don’t eat food offered by people especially if they are coughing, sneezing, or ill. Coronavirus infection is mainly spread through food and direct contact with already infectious people.

  9. Do not forget to get vaccinated if you are planning to travel in a train. Although there is no proven cure or coronavirus vaccine developed for coronavirus infection, you can minimise the risks of getting infected by having the vaccination for common cold and flu.
