Indian Railways Started Production of Rail Coaches in Kapurthala RCF
The Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala of Indian Railways has started production once again from April 23, 2020 after 28 days of nationwide lockdown. The factory has been re-opened following all the safety precautions and guidelines issued by the Home Ministry and the local administration amidst the relentless fight against COVID-19. In total, 3744 employees have been allowed to start the work.They are residing inside the RCF campus township. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the advisory of the State Governments, other production units of Indian Railways will also resume construction work as soon as they get advice in this regard.

Two Coaches Made in Two Days
Despite limited availability of resources for making coaches, RCF Kapurthala has prepared two coaches in just two days. These include one each of LHB High Capacity Parcel Van and Luggage Cum Generator Cars, which have been produced on 23 April 2020 and 24 April 2020 respectively. Production of these coaches will help in running Parcel Express trains.
Safety Kit Given to Employees
A safety kit has been issued to all the employees joining duty after lockdown. This kit includes masks, sanitizer bottles and soap. Employees have been called on duty to make coaches in the factory, as well as all officers in administrative offices have returned to duty in their respective offices. Currently 33 percent of the employees are being called on duty on the basis of rotation roster.
Kapurthala RCF is Following the Instructions
All safety instructions along with Coronavirus awareness posters have been displayed at key locations in the factory, office and residential complexes. All employees are being regularly consulted by their supervisors and officers, so that safety guidelines can be followed at the workplace.
Arrangements Made for Social Distancing
Workers are being called at different times in three shifts. There is a big difference between the time of arrival for all the three shifts, lunch time and exit time. Screening of every employee is being done by thermal scanners at the entrances, so that their body temperature can be checked. A 24-bed quarantine centre at RCF campus and an 8-bed isolation ward at LLR Hospital are fully ready to handle any case related to corona.
Coronavirus Cases Crossed 28K in India
The number of patients infected with the coronavirus is increasing continuously across the country. According to data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the last 24 hours, 1,463 new cases have been reported and 60 people have died, which is the highest so far. The total number of corona positive cases across the country has risen to 28,380, of which 21,132 are active, 6,362 people have become healthy or have been discharged from hospital and 886 people have died.
