To improve the passenger experience, the Indian Railways is replacing the old coaches with new strong LHB coaches in different trains of Indian Railways. Train number 22355/56 Patliputra Chandigarh Express started operating with an LHB rack from 2nd of February. The Patliputra-Chandigarh Express having 24 coaches are replaced with 22 new LHB Coaches. What is HOG CUM- LHB Coaches?
Indian Railways is converting the traditional coaches into secure LHB racks as these coaches are more secure, stronger, and lighter. They are equipped with modern facilities. The LHB coach has been designed from the safety point of view and in such a way that even the accidental damage and the shock will not be felt even at the speed of hundred kilometers per hour. The gate in the coach will also look beautiful. The power for air conditioning, lighting, fans, etc. in a rake with a Head on Generation (HOG) system is taken directly from the Over Head Equipment (OHE) and the DG set in the power car. This rake is environmentally friendly as there is no emission of carbon dioxide (smoke).

A 30-tire LHB coach can carry 80 people, while an ICF coach carries only 72 passengers. LHB coaches are 1.5 meters longer than traditional coaches. Their shelf-life is also longer than traditional coaches. However, due to the increased length of LHB coaches, it was decided to reduce one coach from installation in the train as compared to the old coach. This was done because the platform does not have sufficient length. So now enjoy your journey with extra load of safety! The new LHB coaches of Patliputra Chandigarh Express.
