Small yet Crucial Tips for the Solo Woman before Hotel Check in

India is the most exciting destination on earth. Every moment of travelling in India is an adventure. Travelling alone is highly a rewarding experience, but sometimes it’s not easy for the solo woman. If you love travelling, one of the prerequisite is to book hotel room in advance.Being a woman, the crucial thing for solo travel is “Safety”.While travelling, hotels are the good place to stay at your destination. Specially, when it comes to booking of hotels by hour; it’s a boon. Here’re some crucial tips for solo woman travelers while booking their hotel rooms.

  1. Don’t disclose your gender while reserving a room online:
When you’re booking your room online, never discuss about your gender. Use only the first letter of your name along with last name during booking. Like if your name is Neha Sharma, kindly use N. Sharma instead of Neha Sharma.

  2. Avoid Ground Floors:
Ask for the room which is few floors up from ground. In case of natural disaster like Earthquake or artificial/human made disasters like intruders, you’ll be able to keep yourself safe.

  3. Don’t disclose your room number loudly:
If front desk employee announces your room number loudly, request him to change your room number and write it on paper instead of vocalizing. Reason is simple, if someone with bad intensions overhears it; you never know what’s next.

  4. Avoid Ground Floors:
Ask for the room which is few floors up from ground. In case of natural disaster like Earthquake or artificial/human made disasters like intruders, you’ll be able to keep yourself safe.

  5. Don’t disclose your room number loudly:
If front desk employee announces your room number loudly, request him to change your room number and write it on paper instead of vocalizing. Reason is simple, if someone with bad intensions overhears it; you never know what’s next.

  6. Stay with your luggage till check in:
Keep your luggage with yourself under the surveillance of the front desk till you’ve checked in to your room. Do not get distracted and turn away from it.

  7. Ask for two or three extra business cards:
Keep one business card in your phone case and other in your purse while going out from hotel. You might lose your way to the hotel. In such case you will have the address and contact number of the hotel. Hotel management can send a cab to your location.

  8. Inspect your room properly:
Inspect your room carefully. Make sure that the locks of windows & doors are functioning and there is no hidden camera. Check whether the facilities promised while booking the room is upto your expectation or not.

  9. Keep the door locked:
Include it in your habit! Lock the door especially when you’re alone or going out from the room. Be cautious!

  10. Use security chains, while opening the doors for strangers:
Keep security chains engaged instead of opening up the door properly. If a person claims to be an employee of the hotel, call the front desk to verify.

  11. Check the Locks:
Be Smart! Check the locks of door and windows before leaving and when you enter your room.

Miscellaneous Tips to Follow:

  • Avoid being solo as much as possible
  • Keep distance to book hotels in a secluded locality.
  • Use valet parking service instead of walking from the general parking.
  • Rather than leaving card on door, call for room service.
