Railways Start Construction of Supaul Araria New Broad Gauge Rail Line

The roadmap to start work on Supaul-Araria rail section, the important rail project of North Bihar has now been cleared. The tender for Supaul-Pipra was finalized in the first phase of this railway section. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has informed the Energy Minister of the state Bijendra Prasad Yadav about the selection of the agency and about starting the work. About 17 hundred crores are expected to be spent on this project, which is important from the safety point of view. So far 80 percent of the land acquisition has been done for Supaul-Araria railway block. 360 acres of land was acquired between Supaul-Pipra. As soon as the acquisition process got finalized, the Railways started the construction process. A tender was floated by the Construction, North, Chief Administrative Officer of East Central Railway.

Supaul – Araria Broad Gauge Rail Line Would Be Constructed First Time after Independence

The project was clouded by the lockdown. But in the end, Railways decided to start work on it by selecting the agency. This would be the first time since independence when a new broad gauge rail line would be constructed between Araria to Supaul. Supaul-Araria new rail line will pass through Supaul district for about 58 km. While the distance between Supaul-Pipra is 22 kilometers. It will cost 180 crores to build it.

National Security Project Includes Supail – Araria Rail Line
The late Union Minister Arun Jaitley had included Supaul-Araria-Galgalia in the national security project considering it as strategically important. Under this rail project, 12 new railway stations are to be constructed between Supaul-Araria. With the construction of this railway track, this area of Kosi will be connected to major metros. Now the train leaves for Saharsa from Patna. The large rail line between Saharsa to Supaul has recently started. Passenger train is running between it now.

A Direct Train Can Run between Patna-Supaul

The train will run between Supaul and Araria via Farbisganj. Supaul-Araria-Galgalia is a new route. This will connect Raniganj, Triveniganj, Supaul directly with the train service. Work is going on from Jhanjharpur to Nirmali on the railway line between Saraigad to Supaul. Inspection of CRS has been done from Saraigad to Nirmali and soon it will start running. In this way Supaul-Araria direct trains will run in the coming years. The movement of trains will increase employment opportunities in this area.
