Ahmedabad Junction (ADI) is the largest as well as the busiest railway station in the state of Gujarat. While Gandhinagar is the capital of the state, it is Ahmedabad which is the centre of the state’s economic might. Vande Bharat Express

Two sets of Vande Bharat Express trains pass through the Ahmedabad Junction. One is towards Mumbai Central which connects the Vadodara, Surat, Vapi and Borivali stations in between. The distance is covered in under 6 hours. The other Vande Bharat connects Ahmedabad to Okha and the Saurashtra region. The trip concluded in about 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Shatabdi, Tejas, and Duronto

Daytime Mumbai travel: the Shatabdi (12009/12010) and the Tejas (82901/82902) both run on the Mumbai Central corridor with AC chair cars. Pune gets the Duronto (12297/12298), three days each way. Point to point, overnight, no intermediate stops.

Gujarat Mail, Gujarat Express, and Karnavati

Gujarat Mail (12901/12902). Runs daily, Dadar to ADI and back, overnight. The Gujarat Express (22953/22954) does the same stretch in the daytime. So does the Karnavati Express (12933/12934). Three options, different departure windows, same corridor.

AC Double Decker, Gujarat Queen, and Pune Services

Double Decker (12931/12932) runs daily between Mumbai Central and ADI, full AC. Gujarat Queen (19033/19034) is the daily Valsad link. Pune has the Ahimsa Express (22185/22186), once a week each way. Trains from Ahmedabad Junction to Delhi and Rajasthan

Ashram Express and Yoga Express

Ashram Express leaves Sabarmati BG at 19:45, and reaches Old Delhi by 10:00 next morning. The return train leaves Old Delhi at 14:55, arrives at Sabarmati by 05:45. Operates daily, both ways, across the Jaipur mainline. The Yoga Express (19031/19032) takes a longer route: ADI to Rishikesh via Delhi and Haridwar, 26 hours, daily.

Jammu, J&K, and Rajasthan Services

The Jammu Tawi Express (19223/19224) runs daily to Firozpur Cantonment. Vaishno Devi travellers have the Hapa SVDK Express (12475), Tuesdays only, 33 hours. Suryanagari Express (12479/12480) covers Jodhpur to Bandra Terminus daily. Ala Hazrat Express (14311/14312) links Bareilly to Bhuj. Northern routes delay more in winter. Ajmer Intercity

Ajmer Intercity connects Ahmedabad Junction to Ajmer daily. It departs at 09:10, and reaches Ajmer by 18:45. Return from Ajmer at 06:25, ADI by 15:35. Under 10 hours both ways.

Trains from Ahmedabad Junction to Howrah and the Sabarmati Express Routes

Howrah Superfast and Sabarmati Express

Howrah Superfast (12833/12834) connects Ahmedabad Junction to Howrah in just over 37 hours. It runs daily both ways. Two separate Sabarmati Express routes operate from ADI: one to Darbhanga in Bihar (19165/19166, three days each way), one to Varanasi City (19167/19168, four days a week). Same name. Shanti Express and Prerna Express

Indore gets the daily Shanti Express (19309/19310), departing ADI at 19:10 and reaching Indore by 05:45. Nagpur has the Prerna Express (22137/22138), three days a week each way.

Trains from Ahmedabad Junction to Bihar, Bengal, and Assam

Rajgir twice a week: that is the Azimabad Express (12947/12948) from ADI. The Kamakhya Gandhidham Express (15667/15668) covers over 3,100 km to reach Assam. Gandhidham to Kamakhya: 63 hours 25 minutes. Once a week each way.

Daily services here: Gwalior Sabarmati Express (22547), Darbhanga Ahmedabad Special (09466), Jansadharan Express (15269) from Muzaffarpur, and the Parasnath Express (12942) running Asansol to Bhavnagar Terminus.

Navjeevan Express and Humsafar

31 hours 25 minutes to Chennai Central. The Navjeevan Express (12655/12656) runs this daily. Over 1,890 km, both ways. That is the backbone of south-bound travel from ADI. The Chennai Central Ahmedabad Humsafar Express (22919/22920) runs once a week in each direction. Bengaluru gets the Yesvantpur Express (16501/16502): departs ADI on Tuesday, YPR returns Sunday.

Kerala, Odisha, and Daily South Services

Kerala options are thin from ADI. The Veraval Thiruvananthapuram Express (16333/16334) runs once a week via the Konkan. Puri gets the 12843/12844, four days each way, about 38 hours. The Okha Ernakulam Express (16337) and Shri Ganganagar Kochuveli Express (16311) cover daily south-bound traffic, both long-haul. Waitlists on south-bound trains fill fast. Intra-Gujarat and Local Trains at Ahmedabad Junction

Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (94801/94802): ADI to Bhuj, 359 km, AC chair car, no reservation needed, under 6 hours. Departs ADI at 17:25. Newest service on this corridor and noticeably different from older DMU options.

Somnath Express (22957/22958) departs nightly at 22:10 toward Veraval. Arrives 06:00. Both directions, every day. The Jan Shatabdi (20947) leaves ADI at 07:55, Ekta Nagar by 10:50. For the shorter commuter runs: Himmatnagar Asarva DMU (09402) and Mahesana Ahmedabad DMU Special (09432) handle daily town-to-city traffic.
