India Ranks Second Globally in Railway Electrification

Indian Railways has achieved a new milestone in modernization and secured second place in railway electrification. This achievement highlights the investment in rail infrastructure to improve operational efficiency.

According to Union Railway Minister “Ashwani Vaishnaw,” about 99.6% of the Broad Gauge (BG) network is electrified. Between 2014 and 2026, about 48,072 route km have been electrified making rapid modernization in the Indian rail network.
