IRCTC to run ‘The Golden Chariot Train’ from 22nd March

Indian Railways has decided to run the ‘Golden Chariot Train’ like the country’s most luxurious train ‘Golden Chariot train’ in South India from 22nd March 2020. The Ministry of Railways has entered into a contract with the Government of Karnataka to run “Golden Chariot Train” in South India. IRCTC will take over the management, operations and marketing of this luxury train after a gap of few years. Karnataka Government undertaking Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) was running this train for the last 10 years and there’re was a loss in the revenue. According to KSTDC officials, they have incurred a total loss of about Rs 42 Crore in the operation of the Golden Chariot which was started in 2008. Now KSTDC has tied up with IRCTC to run it professionally. Golden chariot train will run under the agreement between IRCTC and KSTDC. This luxury train of 18 coaches will have 44 guest rooms in which 84 guests can be accommodated to travel the best parts of South India. It will be one of the most luxurious trains in India. Golden Chariot will also provide a sightseeing tour of South India involving its history, culture, and wildlife.

Golden Chariot will traverse through Historical Sites of South India
According to the information, places like Goa to Bandipur, Mysore, Chikmagalur, Hampi, and Bijapur have been included in the list. The Golden Chariot will start its journey on 22nd March. The train will leave from Bengaluru as part of a seven-day journey and will return to Bengaluru on the seventh day via Bandipur Tiger Reserve, Mysore Palace, Holleswar Temple and coffee plantation at Chikmagalur, Hampi, Gol Gumbaz at Bijapur and Goa. The food in train will be served by the top Chefs to the guests and everyone can check the train schedule of Golden chariot through travel planning apps.

Amenities of “The Golden Chariot Train”
IRCTC will start its operations from 22nd March by making some internal changes as per the beauty of the state. It is noteworthy that IRCTC has considerable experience in operating tourism-related services. The company also operates the popular Maharaja Express. The Golden Chariot is an 18-compartment luxury train, in which the tourists will get premium facilities. It will have a:

  • Bar lounge
  • Business center
  • Gymnasium
  • Ayurvedic spa
  • Luxury AC salons

Let us tell you that the Prime Minister has set the goal of increasing internal tourism in front of all the states. Minister of State for Railways Suresh Agadi said that the Railways will try to ensure that the fare of this finest luxury train of India remains within the reach of the people. It is now expected that IRCTC will provide better service to the guests that will not only boost tourism in the South but also generate employment. It has also been asked to keep the fare competitive so that more and more people can afford the tourist package of Golden Chariot. These moves will benefit both organizations IRCTC and KSTDC. There are many tourist places in Karnataka like Hampi, Western Ghats where tourism can be promoted on a large scale.
