Indian Railways Has Changed the Name of Naugarh Railway Station to Siddharthnagar

The Indian Railways has changed the name of Naugarh railway station located near Nepal border to Siddharthnagar railway station. The Northeast Railway has given a new look to this station by working extensively.

 

Rail News: The Northeast Railway Administration has renamed the Naugarh station as Siddharthnagar station. The change has also been done in the official documents of Railways. The new name of the station will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi in the presence of MP Jagdambika Pal through video conferencing. The date of inauguration was today, but due to problems with Uttar Pradesh government, the railways postponed the commencement of Siddharthanagar Station.

 

Why Has Naugarh Railway Station Name Changed to Siddharthanagar?

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer, North Eastern Railway, said that Naugarh railway station is the district headquarters station of Siddharthnagar district. People have been demanding to rename the Naugarh railway station to Siddharthanagar for a long time because of its connection with the events in the life of Gautam Buddha. Because of this, approval was granted to rename the Naugarh station as Siddharthnagar.

 

The Notification Was Issued on 27 November

Based on a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India, the Governor has decided to rename the Naugarh Railway Station to Siddharthnagar on 27 November 2019. Principal Secretary, Nitin Ramesh Gokarn informed about the change of the name through a notification letter.

 

Naugarh Railway Station Existed Since the Year 1905

Naugarh railway station got the name of Siddharthnagar district after 32 years of its creation. In 1988, the area was formed after getting separated from Basti district. There was a demand to rename the district headquarters of Naugarh railway station to Siddharthnagar. On 15 January 1905, the Uska Bazar-Badhni railway section was constructed, after which, Naugarh railway station came into existence.

 

Naugarh is Connected to Many Big Stations

Naugarh station falls inside the Lucknow division of the Northeast Railway, located on the Gorakhpur-Gonda Loop rail section. The work of Gorakhpur-Gonda rail section located in the foothills of Himalayas has been completed in five phases. Due to the Naugarh railway station being located on the signature line segment; Gorakhpur, Gonda (Lucknow), Lucknow, Lakhimpur, Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kasganj (Mathganj), Mathura, Kota, Vadodara, Surat, Jhansi, Bhopal, Muzaffarpur, Katihar etc. are connected to cities by direct train service.
