Indian Railways Has Invented a Unique Rail Bicycle for Trackman

Indian Railways invented a unique Rail Bicycle which is a novel mechanism to quickly travel on rail tracks for the work of inspections, monitoring & urgent repairs. This rail bicycle is a simple innovation which is ensuring passenger security.

Rail News: This bicycle is for running on the railway line instead of the roads. This arrangement is not for ordinary passengers but for trackmen for cycling along the route. This fancy two-wheeled vehicle ( Rail Bicycle ) has been made effortlessly by an assistant engineer of Railways in Ajmer. Railways officials are now able to walk on the line across some metal rods on ordinary bicycles.

Rail Bicycle is Made by Attaching Two Rods for Balance

The front wheel of the bicycle is attached to a small metal wheel with two rods for stability, which has made it suitable for putting the bike on the line. The two rods attached to the front and rear wheels go along the sideline and are attached to a metal wheel. It will help the bike to move forward while keeping balance on the Rail tracks.

This Bicycle Will Help a Lot in an Emergency

Trackmen have started running on this fancy bike on railway lines. This vehicle is beneficial in signalling danger, especially in the rainy season when the line gets cracked, and the river water rises to the danger level. Railway engineers think that this bike will do a lot of work in case of an emergency.

Old Wheels of Rail Kart Are Used in the Bicycle

North Western Railway says that two old wheels of rail kart and two iron pipes have been used in making this bicycle. The iron pipes were cut, and the old wheels of the rail kart were added to it. The same was attached to an old bicycle with a nut bolt. The bike was ready for running on the railway track.

Many Other Railways Divisions Also Making This Bicycle

After the successful launch and use of mechanism in railways, many more railways divisions are coming forward for this innovation. Bengaluru railways division and NTPC unit of Simhadri also created this for their trackman. This bicycle is a lightweight structure and is very helpful for reaching new locations at tracks like bridge approaches, area of bank slips, rain cuts, etc.
