Indian Railways Provides 960 Isolation coaches in 5 States

Indian Railways have decided to provide 5231 isolation ward coaches throughout India as its contribution to the nation to fight against the pandemic of COVID-19. In total, 960 COVID care isolation coaches of Railways have been deployed in 5 states so far.

Indian Railways has deployed 960 COVID Care isolation Coaches in five States of India. Isolation coaches have been stationed in New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

Recently, Rail minister and chairman of Railway board conducted a special meeting regarding the isolation coaches of Indian Railways. Railway officials said that “Out of total 960 Isolation coaches, 503 Isolation coaches have been deployed in Delhi, 372 in Uttar Pradesh, 60 in Telangana, 20 in Andhra Pradesh and five in Madhya Pradesh.”

Rail Ministry said that “These State Governments have sent the requisition to Indian Railways, and Railways have deployed these coaches to the State governments and Union territories.”

Health staff in isolation coaches are to be provided by the state government

The Rail Ministry said that the Railways is working as the service provider of coaches as isolation care centres as its contribution to the national cause. Doctors and paramedics in these isolation coaches are to be provided by State Governments.

The officials of ministry said, sustaining the fight against COVID-19, Indian Railways is supplementing the health care efforts of the State Governments. Indian Railways has planned to provide its 5,231 Isolation ward coaches to the required States.

Isolation coaches of Railways can be used in remote areas

Railways will also provide two liaison officers for each location of coaches to assist state government officials. These isolation coaches can be used in remote areas where the state government has exhausted the facilities and need to augment capacities for isolation of both suspects and confirmed COVID cases.

Number of COVID-19 patients continues to increase in India

The number of corona patients continues to grow as lockdown has been relaxed in India. Thousands of new cases are coming to the hospitals every day. With the increase of 2,147 new cases of corona in Tamil Nadu, the number of corona infected in the state has crossed 50,000.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there have been 10,974 new cases of coronavirus and 2,003 deaths in India in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the country has now risen to 3,54,065, out of which 1,55,227 are active cases. 1,86,935 people have returned to their homes after being cured or discharged. The number of people who have died due to corona infection is also increasing very rapidly. So far, 11,903 people have died in the country of coronavirus.
