Trains and Flights to start Booking from April 15 Onwards

After the Center has clarified the non-extension of the lockdown period, the Indian Railways and private airlines have started to accept booking for travel. The center has clearly indicated that the COVID-19 lockdown period will not be extended and travelers can plan their travel from 15th April onwards.

Pradeep Sharma, PRO of Ahmedabad division of Western Railways spoke to the media giant BusinessLine and confirmed that bookings have begun by the Railways and private airlines for travelers who have postponed their travel plans because of COVID-19 lockdown. He clearly stated “Since there is a clear indication from the Centre that the lockdown will not be extended beyond April 14, bookings have begun”.

“Big Relief for our Clients”- Says, Travel Agents
Since airlines have also started showing bookings from 15th April onwards, the travel agents have started getting inquiries for booking of tickets. Their clients have expressed their interest to book their tickets and interested to know about booking availability. A popular tour operator in Ahmadabad has also quoted “Airlines have also started showing bookings open from April 15. Our clients are inquiring about booking availability. The Centre has clarified that the lockdown will not be extended beyond April 14. That has come as a big relief for our clients.”

Business Travelers and Corporate Groups are the Major Audiences
The major audience groups who are inquiring about travel and booking availability are business travelers and the corporate group who have postponed their travel for a long. The 21 days COVID-19 lockdown announced by PM Narendra Modi and timely updates have affected private businesses and other entities. This update will be a big relief for the business person and corporate people as they can travel and manage their business proceedings.

Points to Ponder:

  • Bookings availability reflecting for flights after 15th April is only for domestic travel.
  • There is no official statement so far from the airlines on the issue.
