Indian Railways Expands Vande Bharat train Services: Extra Coaches and New Sleeper Train

Indian Railways has announced two major upgradations for the Vande Bharat Train network. The primary focus is to raise the capacity of the 42nd Vande Bharat Express and the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, introduced, and to announce the new fare and reservation policy. 

 

 

While passenger feedback on the sleeper variant is still emerging, the confirmed ticket-only system and higher fares signal a move toward redefining overnight rail travel as a comfort-focused experience rather than a mass-transit option.

 

42nd Vande Bharat Runs with 20 Coaches to Handle Peak Demand

 

42nd Vande Bharat Express is operating between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central, and it will run with an extra coachs i.e 20 in place of the old standard 16 coaches. The temporary scaling up of capacity, as it added four additional AC Chair Car coaches, increased the train’s seating capacity by 278 seats. This initiative aims to reduce congestion during peak travel hours.


Vande Bharat covers a distance of approx 491km within 5 hours and 40 minutes and runs on a daily basis except Sundays. Halts are in major stations such as Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali. These routes are considered highly used in western India.

According to railway officials, this initiative reflects the growth of Indian Railways and responds directly to rising passenger demand. Vande Bharat Sleeper trains Marks New Phase in Overnight Travel

 

Vande Bharat Sleeper express expand its capacity and launches its first sleeper class just to make a significant shift in the long-distance train journey into overnight train travel. This sleeper class runs between Howrah in West Bengal and Kamakhaya in Assam, and its journey covers around 968km. 

 

This is designed to offer comfort to the passengers for the overnight journey. The variants of the sleeper class upgraded their interiors, amplified the safety system, known for their speed. As it enhances the operational potential when compared with traditional sleeper trains. Premium Fare Structure and Confirmed-Ticket-Only Policy

 

The major concern of the passengers is the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express ‘ fare’.  The conventional sleeper train fare is quite different from this train’s. But the comfort and convenience, so the price will be different in Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The price of tickets starts from ₹960 for AC 3-tier berths for the journey who cover upto 400km and rises as the kilometer increases. If planning for full routes, the fare reaching higher level. This train allows a minimum distance of 400 Km if passengers want to travel a shorter distance. 

 

The RAC or waitlisted tickets option is not available for the Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Those who have confirmed tickets can board the train. Confirmed berths are issued to passengers belonging to different quotas such as women, senior citizens, disables. The probability of confirmed tickets offered to the passengers is great, but it limits the last-minute booking of tickets.
