Railways Have Made It Mandatory to Link IRCTC Account with Aadhaar Card

Earlier, you could book a maximum of 6 online tickets in a month from your IRCTC account. But Indian Railways has increased the monthly limit for online ticket booking from 6 to 12. To do this, you have to link your IRCTC account with your Aadhaar Card.

 

Rail News: Booking of railway tickets has become more comfortable now. Indian Railways has made it mandatory to link IRCTC account with your Aadhaar card. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will provide the facility to book 12 tickets on Aadhaar verification.

 

This rule was not mandatory for booking of train tickets earlier. But without Aadhaar card linking, you can’t book your ticket for upcoming journeys now.

How to Link IRCTC Account with Aadhaar Card

  1. To link your Aadhaar number with IRCTC, you have to log in to your IRCTC account.
  2. You have to go to My Profile and click on Update.
  3. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card. Enter the OTP on IRCTC website.
  4. Your Aadhaar number will be linked to the IRCTC account. Now you will be able to book 12 tickets in a month.

 

How to Book More Than Six Tickets in the Month

 

To book more than six tickets in a month, the IRCTC user ID should be Aadhaar verified, and all the passengers should also be Aadhaar verified. Aadhaar verified passenger should be selected from the “Saved Passenger List” while booking. Once you log in to www.irctc.co.in and choose your train and date of travel details, you need to click on “My Saved Passengers List” on the Passenger Input page. You would be able to add Aadhaar Verified Passengers from the right-side panel of the website.

General Rules for Ticket Booking

 

IRCTC website always has the public booking feature operational except when it’s down for maintenance work. The schedule for AC Tatkal ticket booking is at 10 AM, and for non-AC Tatkal tickets, the site opens at 11 AM. No tickets can be booked before 120 days. Only one booking can be made from 8 AM to 12 PM from a user log in, which includes the booking for the return journey. If you want to book a ticket again, you have to log out first, and then login again to get the ticket booking facility for the second time.

 

An Extra Charge Will Have to Be Paid for Tatkal Tickets

 

Railways have fixed a minimum fee of 100 rupees and a maximum 200 rupees for booking train tickets for sleeper class under Tatkal tickets. For AC chair car tickets, the charges levied by Indian Railways are Rs 125-225. You can book Tatkal tickets on IRCTC website.
