List of 40 Clone Trains

Such clone trains have not been run by the Indian Railways previously. Due to the imposition of a lockdown in India from March 25, railways had suspended all passenger trains services. After the coronavirus lockdown in India was partially lifted, the Indian Railways began running 15 pairs of AC Shramik special trains in May, followed by an additional 100 pairs of special trains in June. However, it resumed works in a staggered way, to help stranded migrant workers reach their home states with Shramik Special trains from May 1.

Another 80 special trains began operating from September 12, taking the total number of currently operational special trains to 310. With the addition of these 20 pairs of clone trains, the Railways will take another major step towards returning to pre-COVID levels. With the country entering into Unlock 4, Indian Railways will assist in a reverse migration of workers to urban areas for work.
