100+ Special Trains Announced for Onam 2026 Amid Festive Rush
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced 100+ special trains to Kerala for Onam 2026 to manage the festive rush. The special services will operate from different corners of India to help passengers to celebrate with their families.
The Onam special train is likely to run from major cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Vaishnaw added that the train route, schedule, stoppage, and date will be announced soon by Indian Railways.

The main day (Thiruvonam) to celebrate Onam 2026 is Wednesday, 26 August. However, Onam celebration runs for 10 days to honor the return of King Mahabali. The celebration follows the Hindu calendar and traditional astrology.
Weekend trains are in higher demand, but unfortunately, no trains are still on the line to reduce the surge on the Kerala route. Moreover, passengers are also looking for return tickets after the Onam festival.
