South India’s First Vande Bharat Train is on Railway Track
The 4th largest rail network Indian Railway is getting tech-savvy day by day. The system is upgrading itself with the new launches of well-equipped, high-speed, world-class passenger trains in India. On 11 November 2022, Indian Railways launched the nation’s 5th or South India’s 1st Vande Bharat Express train on the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysure route of South Railway. Country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off the 5th rake of Vande Bharat Express at the Krantiveera Sangolli Railway station in Bengaluru.
The trial run of the 5th rake of Vande Bharat Express occurred on 7 November between Dr MGR Chennai Central and Mysure via KSR. The Bangalore-Mysure Vande Bharat Express is the 2nd generation Vande Bharat train that will cover 503 Kilometers at an average speed of 76 km/h. The major halt stations of the route are Jolarpettai Junction and KSR Bengaluru city.
You must know that the country’s first Vande Bharat train was launched on 15 February 2019. Moreover, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman has announced in the annual budget 2022 that in the upcoming 3-years, India will introduce 400 new generation Vande Bharat express trains with better energy efficiency on the railway track.
Features of Vande Bharat Train
- Vande Bharat Train also known as Train 18 is a “Made in India ” project.
- The train has an intelligent system for braking that ensures better acceleration and Declaration.

Details About Semi-High Speed Express
To date, there are five semi high-speed Vande Bharat trains. The first Vande Bharat was launched between New Delhi and Varanasi. It is a 1st generation train with the number 22435/22436. The train runs all weekdays except Monday and Thursday. It covers 759 km with an average speed of 95 km/h. The utmost speed of the first Vande Bharat train is 130 km/h. The train was flagged off on 15 February 2019. The major halt of New Delhi Vande Bharat is Kanpur Central and Prayagraj Junction.
The second Vande Bharat was launched between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. It is also a 1st generation train with numbers 22439/22440. The train runs all weekdays except Tuesdays. It covers 655 km with 82 km/h of average speed. The train’s maximum speed is 130 km/h. The train was launched on 3 October 2019. The major halt of Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat is Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi.
The third Vande Bharat express was launched between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital. It is the 2nd generation Vande Bharat train with numbers 20901/20902. The train runs all weekdays except Sundays. It covers 522 km at an average speed of 85 km/h with a supreme speed of 130 km/h. The train was launched on 30 September 2022. The major halt of Mumbai central Vande Bharat express is Vapi, Surat, Vadodara Junction, and Ahmedabad Junction.
The fourth Vande Bharat was launched between New Delhi and Amb Andaura. It is also a 2nd generation train with number 22448/22447. The train runs all weekdays except Friday. It covers 412 km at an average speed of 81 km/h. However, the train can run at a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The train was launched on 13 October 2022. The major halt of the Amb Andaura Vande Bharat train is Chandigarh Junction
The fifth and newest Vande Bharat has launched between Chennai and Mysuru. It is also a 2nd generation train with number 20607/20608. The train runs all weekdays except Wednesday. It covers 504 km at an average speed of 76 km/h. The train’s utmost speed is 110 km/h. The train was flagged off, 11 November 2022. The major halt of the train is Jolarpettai Junction and KSR Bengaluru City.
