Indian Railways: List of Festival Special Trains for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath
Indian Railway has planned to run festival special trains during Durga puja, Diwali, and Chhath to help passengers reach their homes.
The railway is anticipating increased demand for travelling during the upcoming festive season and hence decided to increase the number of special trains operating between stations. Moreover, the first batch of festive special trains will run in pairs on both, the up and the down routes.
Festival Special Trains List
Every year Indian Railways runs special trains during festive seasons to handle the rush of passengers. Here is the full list of festival special trains by Indian Railways in 2021:
Train Number 08217 Durg-Ajmer Weekly Special:
The Durg-Ajmer weekly special train will start running from September 13. It will run once a week (Every Monday). The Puja special train will depart from Durg at 16:00 hrs on Monday. The major stations en-route are Raipur Junction, Annupur Junction, Kota Junction, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, and Phulera Junction. The train will reach its destination Ajmer Junction at 17:45 hrs. The Durg-Ajmer weekly special train will cover a total distance of 1400 kilometres.
Train Number 08218 Ajmer-Durg Weekly Special:
The Ajmer-Durg weekly special train will run from September 14. This Puja special train will run once a week (Every Tuesday). The train will depart from Ajmer Junction at 19:25 hrs on Tuesday. The major stations en-route are the same as of Durg-Ajmer weekly special train but in reverse order. This train will reach Kota Junction at 1:10 hrs, Annupur Junction at 15:40 hrs, and finally reach its destination Durg at 22:10 hrs on Wednesday.

Train Number 08549 Durg-Jammu Weekly Special:
The Durg-Jammu weekly special train will start running on September 14. This superfast train will run once a week (Every Tuesday) and the train will depart from Durg at 12:15 hrs on Tuesday. The major stations en-route are Raipur Junction, Bilaspur Junction, Jhansi Junction, Ambala Cantt, and Pathankot. The train will reach its destination station Jammu Tawi at 18:10 hrs on the next day. The Durg-Jammu weekly special train will cover a total distance of 1871 kilometres.
Train Number 08550 Jammu-Tawi Weekly Special:
The Jammu-Tawi weekly special train will start running from September 16. This special train will run once a week (Every Thursday). This special train will depart from Jammu Tawi (JAT) at 04:35 hrs on Thursday. The major stations en-route are the same as of Durg-Jammu weekly special train but in reverse order. This train will reach Ambala Cantt Junction at 10:55 hrs, Agra Cantt at 17:05 hrs, Jhansi at 20:10 hrs, Raipur at 09:55 hrs. The train will reach its destination station Durg at 11:05 hrs on the next day of the journey.
Train Number 08615 Howrah-Hatia Special:
To handle the festive rush South Indian Railway will run 08615 Howrah-Hatia Special train from September 30. According to SER this train will be in service for 3 months up to December 31. The Howrah-Hatia Special will leave Howrah Junction on 21:30 hrs and reach its destination Hatia at 06:30 hrs. The major stations en-route is Kharagpur Junction, Tatanagar Junction, and Ranchi. The train will run in pair and the down 08616 Hatia-Howrah Special train will leave Hatia at 21:40 hrs and arrive at Howrah Junction at 06:30 hrs.
Northern Railway has added more special festival trains.

- Train no. 01676 MFP Festival SPL Train runs from Anand Vihar ANVT to Muzaffarpur Jn. MFP. The train will run every Monday and Wednesday from October 11 to November 17, 2021.
- Train no. 01675 ANVT Festival SPL Train runs from Muzaffarpur Jn. MFP to Anand Vihar ANVT. The train will run every Tuesday and Thursday from October 12 to November 18, 2021.
- Train no. 01670 NDLS DBG Festival SPL Train runs from New Delhi NDLS to Darbhanga DBG. The train will run every Monday and Thursday from October 11 to November 18, 2021
- Train no. 01669 DBG NDLS Festival SPL Train runs from Darbhanga DBG to New Delhi NDLS. This special festival train will run every Tuesday and Friday from October 12 to November 19, 2021.
- Train no. 01656 01656 GKP Festival SPL Train runs from Chandigarh CDG to Gorakhpur GKP. This train will run every Thursday from October 14 to November 18, 2021.
- Train no. 01655 GKP CDG Festival SPL Train runs from Gorakhpur GKP to Chandigarh CDG. The train will run every Friday from October 15 to November 19, 2021.
- Train no. 01662 SHC Festival SPL Train runs from Anand Vihar ANVT to Saharsa Jn SHC. The train will run every Monday and Thursday from October 11 to November 18, 2021.
- Train no. 01661 ANVT Festival SPL Train runs from Saharsa Jn. SHC to Anand Vihar ANVT. This special festival train will run every Tuesday and Friday from October 12 to November 19, 2021.
- Train no. 01668 JYG Festival SPL Train runs from Anand Vihar ANVT to Jaynagar JYG. This special festival train will run every Tuesday and Friday from October 12 to November 19, 2021.
- Train no. 01667 JYG ANVT Festival SPL Train runs from Jaynagar JYG to Anand Vihar ANVT. The train will run every Wednesday and Saturday from October 13 to November 20, 2021.
- Train no. 01633 SVDK Festival SPL Train runs from New Delhi NDLS to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK. This special festival train will run every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from October 10 to November 21, 2021.
- Train no. 01634 NDLS Festival SPL Train runs from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK to New Delhi NDLS. The train will run every Thursday, Saturday and Monday from October 11 to November 22, 2021.
- Train no. 01636 BSB Festival SPL Train runs from Bhatinda BTI to Varanasi Jn. BSB. The train will run every Sunday and Wednesday from October 10 to November 21, 2021.
- Train no. 01635 BTI Festival SPL Train runs from Varanasi Jn. BSB to Bhatinda Jn. BTI. The train will run every Monday and Thursday from October 11 to November 22, 2021.
- Train no. 01654 BSB Festival SPL Train runs from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK to Varanasi Jn. BSB. The train will run every Sunday from October 10 to November 21, 2021.
- Train no. 01653 SVDK Festival SPL Train runs from Varanasi Jn. BSB to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK. The train will run every Tuesday from October 12 to November 23, 2021.
- Train no. 01674 BSB Festival SPL Train runs from Delhi DLI to Varanasi Jn. BSB. The train will run every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from October 12 to November 21, 2021.
- Train no. 01673 DLI Festival SPL Train runs from Varanasi Jn. BSB to Delhi DLI. The train will run every Wednesday, Sunday and Monday from October 13 to November 22, 2021.
- Train no. 01671 SVDK Festival SPL Train runs from Anand Vihar ANVT to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK. The train will run every Monday and Thursday from October 11 to November 18, 2021.
- Train no. 01672 ANVT Festival SPL Train runs from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra SVDK to Anand Vihar ANVT. This special festival train will run every Tuesday and Friday from October 12 to November 19, 2021.
Special Trains for Christmas and New Year
- Train no. 01596, The Madgaon Junction-Panvel Special Train departs from Madgaon Junction at 4 pm every Sunday and reaches Panvel Station at 3:15 am on the next day, i.e. Monday.
- Train no. 01595, Panvel-Madgaon Junction Special train departs from Panvel Station at 6:05 am and reaches Madgaon Junction at 6:45 pm on the same day.
