The Bullet Train
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) or the Bullet Train, is the most ambitious project of the Western Railways and also for the Indian Railways as a whole. The plan is of a 508 km long route of which 508 km of pier work has already been completed. The first section of the train, i.e., between Surat and Bilimora will be inaugurated on the Independence Day of 2027.
Kavach 4.0
Kavach 4.0 is the latest and the most advanced version of the indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) which aims at tackling train collisions incidents by automatic braking system. A major display of Indian technological prowess was the World Record of setting up of Kavach Version 4.0 across a stretch of 472.3 kilometres. 344-km Vadodara–Surat–Virar which is a Western Railway constitutes a major part of this world record.
Amrit Bharat Station
Amrit Bharat Station is another scheme of Indian Railways to upgrade the station facilities and amenities across the country. Under this scheme, 87 stations in Gujarat and 132 stations in Maharashtra have been identified. 26 new stations in the regions have been equipped with elevators and kiosks are being established in line with the ‘One Station One Product’; initiative.
